I was talking to some guys down at my property this weekend and apparently there have been several citations issued by the local warden for hunting over bait. Yes it is now legal but if you lease land then you must have written permission from the landowner to bait. You guys may have known this but for those that dont FYI...

I am on a small club that leases timber land. We weren’t sure whether or not we would end up getting written permission or not. It was nice to show up and have a folder full of permission slips on the board.

Good info VV! Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the heads up but I’ve never hunted over bait.... ever.

I’ve always scouted the land, tracked the animals, and set up shop waiting for the right shot to present itself.

I suppose there are guys who drive to a heated stand, sip on Coors Light, and wait for the deer to come to them. To me, that’s pathetic.

Coors Light is pathetic.

I thought all leases stated you have to follow game laws,I would tell green jeans see you in court.

The "game law" says you have to have the permission of the landowner to bait (and the leaseholder, if that is not you). Green Jeans will tell you to pack a lunch when you come.

Helps to actually read the game laws.

The timber company that we lease from sent out blanket permission, and sent a copy to DNR.

You had to have permission of the landowner when baiting was limited to S. Ga. Nothing new here.

I have not leased in 20 years my last lease stated follow game laws.thanks for update

If you are not the land owner, you have to have permission to hunt anywhere except public lands.

Mr greenjeans is being an ass. Probably told to be that way by his boss
