Sounds like Trump is ready for congress to push into law a bill that would make universal background checks legal. Meaning that all transactions with firearms will have to be transferred through a FFL, no P2P.

NRA has checked out and doesn't care.

    Thoughts?

I was living in Colorado when this took place. I can tell you it's a pain in the butt. First thing that happened was a lot of dealers refused to do private transfers and many that did charged Way over what the "law" said they could charge for the service. Some smaller dealers would do them at the stated fee but not many. With current ODT prices being over retail it makes no sense to buy from a private party if this takes place (mission accomplished)

And I know everyone will beat on their chest and say they won't comply but the truth from what I saw in Colorado is 99.9% of the people will. We had a site very similar to this and no one would do a sale without the check after the law went into effect.

It wont pass, and it wont stop mass shootings. And its an added burden on legal gun owners.

IF Congress wants to effect real change, they need to give something every time they take something. That's the only way legal gun owners will get behind any new laws.

How about adding 100% concealed carry in every state if you have a CC in one state, like a drivers license?
How about suppressors are 100% non regulated?
    How about SBR non regulated?
How about allowing carry at the Post Office, and anyplace that not a courtroom?
How about allowing carry at federal parks, and places like Lake Lanier?
How about allowing Full auto? Select fire? (I know that's a stretch)

I would be in favor of new guns laws if we got something in return. Just taking isn't going to get the desired results, Congress needs legal gun owners on board to effect any REAL change. Otherwise its going to be politicized, and watered down and not accomplish anything.

If they want to stop mass shootings they need to harden soft targets, allow all good guys to have guns all the time, maybe some kind of redflag (hate to say it) , and up the minimum age to own gun/carry guns.

If you want to stop gang violence with guns, you need to stop gun theft. No guns left in cars, no smash and grab gun store thefts. That's where all the gang guns come from. Add lots of federal money to back up police in Chicago and Baltimore and other gang hot spots.
