I have been looking through the regulations, but can't seem to really find what I am looking for with regards to hunting yotes in the national forest.. So here are my specific questions...

1. Can they be hunted at night?
2. With it being small game season, do we need to use rimfire or pellet guns?

Dont think you can hunt at nite in National forest or WMA land.Hope you got a badass pellet gun they sometimes run in packs id take an AR

As I understand it, both yotes and hogs can be taken with the firearm (or bow) you're carrying for the season you're in.

I have the regs on this machine, I'll see if I can find you more info.

FERAL HOG FIREARMS
Any deer, bear, turkey or small game firearms. There is no restriction on
magazine capacity for rifles. Additional weapons restrictions apply on
WMAs (see page 43) and Federal lands (see pages 66–67).

National Forest
FERAL HOG
Baiting is prohibited. No night hunting.
Hogs may be taken with archery equipment
during archery deer season, with
deer weapons during firearms deer season,
with turkey weapons during turkey
season and with small game weapons
during small game dates. Feral hogs
may be hunted with dogs with appropriate
weapons restrictions while training dogs
during dates when training season coincides
with small game or turkey season.
SPECIAL REGS
Coyotes
may be hunted during open seasons with
weapons restrictions for game species in
season. No night hunting. Electronic calls
may be used.

Thanks, I had seen the thing about hogs, not sure how I missed the yotes.

If you wanted to do it at night you needed to do it before that ranger went crawling around in the bushes at night and before the unfortunate was made to pay for the ranger's mistake.

Please be aware of where you bullets end up after they pass by or through your target.

That is about the most disgusting statement I've ever read on these boards. And that's saying something.
Hunting drunk, in an illegal area, you take a shot another man doesn't want to because he can't identify the target, you shoot the ranger and then refuse to render aid while the man lay dyiing and that's "unfortunate"? Absofreakinglutely DISGUSTING!

"That ranger" was Christopher Upton. He was a husband, father and a fine individual. He was found laying beside his truck. He was not in the weeds or behind a berm or crawling around in the bushes.

The "hunter" and his friends, who shot him, went to his side after shooting him, saw he was alive and left him to bleed out without calling for assistance. It is believed that had they called for immediate medical attention Officer Upton would be with us today.

They returned hours later and called it in as if it had just occurred.

Is this why it is illegal to hunt yotes in the National Forest at night?
