You know most 30-30s and lever guns in general suck and can't hit a pie plate at 100 yards.

Lol...in 1985 to 1990. Actually the more I think about it - they were $189 & $209. It was a long time ago!

That would be about $550 in 2022.

I worked at Wiley outdoor sports in the 80s I was their compound bow tuner/restringer. I purchased a Ithaca model 37 12 GA back then for 67 dollars from them. Top end scopes were 250-500 dollars. It was different times. But I was only making 150 dollars a week. I joined the military and started making 650 a month LOL.

For hunting in the eastern part of the US, the 30-30 is hard to beat. I've killed a nice 9 point at 30 yards and a 279 pound wild boar at 125 yards, at night, with a Kill Light and iron sights (one shot to the head). The rifles are light, quick handling, quick to reload, and accurate enough. No, they're NOT sub-MOA or bench rest caliber rifles....learn how to hunt.

When ammo shows up I’m gonna break out my dads old 30/30. I always just shot whatever he had when I would visit. It’s an older gold trigger marlin. Wonder if I should start with 150 or 170’s?

I just ordered 5 boxes of the 170 grainers from Cabelas. It was the only place that had any. I have found over the years that a heavier bullet is generally more accurate but that is just my experience.

Can't wait to get this thing. I love new firearms.

Keep in mind that ammo can make big difference in accuracy. Usually Winchester shoots well for me. That 35 I mentioned liked 200gr Remington ammo. Hand loads work well too. Again I usually like Winchester components. You'll have to see what works best for you.
