You know most 30-30s and lever guns in general suck and can't hit a pie plate at 100 yards.

So why are people pricing them so dang high? A lever gun is a 25 yard to 50 yard brush gun at best.

Don't get me wrong I like 30-30s and the nostalgia that goes along with them but seriously 1500+ dollars for a marlin or a winchester LOL.
so you cant shoot and are broke, huh?
we would not have known had you not posted this. i was talking to some of the guys at the ODT 10...all of them were like.....man that B Bypass is a crack shot with deep pockets...
oh well
maybe they wont read this thread.....

Sights and ammo are game changers on the lever guns. The old "Buckhorn" rear blows. Add a Skinner or other peep rear and you add 50% or better accuracy.
Ammo on the 30-30 is critical. Buddy had one with 170gr bullets, did not realize it had a trajectory like a bell at 100 yards.
Ammo now is so much better than the stuff sold in the 80's.....
Bring in the 150 gr leverloution (or whaterever they call it) ammo, you get a good ballistic path out to 200 yards.

Ballistics in the chart below.

Lever in 38/357 is an awesome shooter to 100 yards with good sights. And a 22 lever is just plain magical fun.

My 39-A might be the most fun rifle I own.

Maybe I need to try another 30-30 maybe a newer one this time. I really did like the old ones with steel butt plates though. I was just disappointed with their accuracy.
You should. I think you've had some lemons. I've got.a 336 that will shoot 1.5 MOA all day with he right factory ammo and a Browning BLR in .308 that will do it under 1 MOA. My issue with lever guns is their typically crappy triggers that no one knows how to fix.
