Savage 840 made into a 30/30 scout rifle.
She’s my ugly duckling.
I sanded, then refinished the stock with numerous coats of Tung Oil and removed the sidesaddle scope mount that doesn't even center the scope over the bore-line.
I drilled/tapped the barrel after deleting the rear sight, then added a Vortex Scout Scope.
A Marlin barrel band sling swivel mounted to the barrel keeps it riding low on my shoulder-there was not a front swivel stud in the fore-end and i didn't want to drill one in it.
This rifle has one of the prettiest stocks I’ve ever seen and it is a lights-out shooter.

In 1972, my Dad won a Browning BAR .30-06 in a charity raffle. He brought it home, hefted it a few times alongside is Winchester 94(the only other deer caliber he owned) and handed me the Browning and this one's yours. Prior to that I deer hunted with a sporterized 8mm Mauser I paid $30 for. I hunted with the Browning until Daddy died. Then I inherited the 94. Been using it ever since. Served me well.

This one was a buddy’s that passed away. It has the scars of an early morning accident when he fell out of the truck while turning a corner. After we saw he was ok we laughed hysterically.

I don't own a gun like this currently-- but I would really like to have this Fuddesque classic hunting rifle:
the Remington 760 pump action probably in .308.

It should have a fixed WEAVER four power scope (4X) with a 32 mm front lens, and a very generous eye box in the back
(so head placement is not critical to get a full, clear view).

I prefer pump action repeating rifles to lever actions, since I have a ton of experience with pump action shotguns.
