    Pretty much what I was thinking on both points. It won't be a race gun or a monster caliber. Have seen a few with them and was sort of curious about them. Now I know. Thanks for the input, guys. Big help.

    so, like the title says, I would like to know what you guys thinks about a compensator on a 1911. I'm new to the 1911 world. I personally think they "look" pretty cool, but are there any real benefits to having one? are there any major drawbacks to having one?
