Item Description: For sale or trade: 2001 Ford Taurus Wagon SES. 3.0 V6. 150K miles. This car may need a transmission, though the mechanic says it COULD just be the torque converter. Some times the transmission will not go into overdrive and the trans light comes on. My wife was ready for a new (to her) car so this one just got put aside. Need to get it out of the way.

The car is pretty clean, with the typical family car dings. Good tires. 3rd row seat. It has a kinda rough idle but runs strong. Check engine light is on, code is for vacuum leak, but I'll be darned if I can find it. A/C blows cold. You can drive this car home...I don't know that I would take off to Atlanta in it (100 miles).

$800 OBO, I need to get this car out of the driveway.

Open to trades, I need a nice gun safe. Or... Guns (Try me on ANYTHING I might trade for an $800 AK... I might trade for 8 hundred dollar single shot rifles and shottys, try me) AR uppers/pistols ( really looking for 6.8, 300 BLK, 7.62x39, but try me) Pistols (anything nice, anything tactical,CC or target, Love 45 autos but need a nice 357 and a 454,460 or Ruger Blackhawk 45 LC.) OR ??? Make an offer.

I like the wagons better than the sedan. My wife drives an 02 with 215k showing. That's more than you usually get from a Taurus transmission. I better come up with a plan.

Yea I was always told to start looking for it past 125K on overdrive automatics. I've always laughed at those people as I've never had one fail south of 200K. Luck might of caught up with us this time.

We had a 97 wagon in 2010 that I got when I worked at a salvage yard in Houston Co. I like the plain old 3.0 pushrod engine. But that damn AXOD trans is the weak link. The part that is really aggravating about these things is that it's usually less than $50.00 worth of parts to fix the trans. But all that labor...
