I'm considering buying a new rifle in 17 or 22 magnum but in a quandary as to which to buy. The rifle will be used for target plinking and small game. Brands being considered are Marlin and Savage. Please offer your opinion.
They are great guns. Hundreds of rounds thru mine w/o any problems as long as I stuck w/Wilson combat mags. It has out performed many more expensive pistols.
By the time you're done w/ the Mosen you will probably have more $ wrapped up in it than if you bought Savage 110 or a Remington 700. Plus there will not be any needed machining to mount a scope. If you still want a project gun, find a model 95 or 98 Mauser.

Had a similar experience w/mags for my 1911. Bought 2 mags and the brand I bought wouldn't feed in my gun. Took them back & CGP exchanged for ones that worked w/no questions asked . Great place.
