Sergeant First Class Mark Brummitt has distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious service as the Special Reaction Team OIC, serving in an officer billet of the 385th Military Police Battalion. He precisely led and managed a 24 Soldier Military Police special operations unit conducting multiple felony arrest and live operations across two separate installations with a population of over 40,000. He was selected to train the BN Warfighter team by the BN CDR resulting in the team placing in the top ten, in world-wide competition. SFC Brummitt was lauded by LTG Hertling for his contributions to the strategic reform of the Army's Basic Combat Training Program of Instruction. He rewrote training curriculum for over 20 separate subject areas, the most significant of which is the new Basic Rifle Marksmanship and Advanced Rifle Marksmanship program. All 20 curriculums are currently instituted in every Basic Training program throughout the Army. He was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and deployed in support of ONE and OEF. Serving as a Senior Drill Sergeant responsible for over 260 personnel, he was recognized by the Commandant of the Military Police Corps and RCSM as being one of the top 100 Soldiers within the Military Police Corps, receiving the “Commandants 100 Award”. He was further distinguished by selection as the USO Salute to Hero’s Gala Award recipient in Senior Enlisted Category, Runner-up Drill Sergeant of the Year, Distinguished Honor Graduate and Leadership Award at Drill Sergeant School and highest training rates in the BDE. SFC Brummitt was selected as the 7th Infantry Division and III Armored Corps NCO of the Year, Runner-up FORSCOM NCO of the Year, as well as the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Enlisted Military Representative of the year. He trained and led teams in the Military Police Regimental Warfighter Competition in 2006 and 2007 placing 7th and 11th in world-wide competition. He was selected Distinguished Honor Graduate at BNCOC, and Distinguished Honor Graduate and Leadership Award Recipient at PLDC.
