    The idea was to solicit advice. You cannot possibly know someone's intent. What do you feel would have constituted being in danger? Should I wait until I am in danger before I start taking advice on planning or start thinking about taking action? Just curious?

    I said as much to the responding officers and they didn't seem to see my point. He started the confrontation, he escalated it, and at the end of the day the leo's voiced that they could just as easily arrest me as him.

    Great thoughts and excellent points. I view this experience as a freebie and I will plan accordingly. I'll need to do some additional research but I have a number of ideas on how to reduce risk to my family and fortify my defensive position as necessary.

    Pretty cool video. I think that if the boars shot back it might impact his ability to make the split second decisions and shoot so accurately. I wonder if he would want a semi-auto in that situation? ;)

    No, my kids are rational mini-adults that debate the merits of whether we should decrease federal spending or increase tax revenues. ;) My kids are well behaved, they are respectful, I apply discipline and love and they do get punished when they do wrong.     I'm really glad no one was hurt. Given the intensity of the situation I was surprised at how well I responded to the situation. I was met with an armed threat and I didn't loose my ability to think rationally and make what I believe was the right decision. It may not make me a good Christian but...

    No bolt action in my future. :) I would imagine in that situation that second that it takes to rack another round would be the longest second in the universe.

    This probably where I am headed. Probably also going to get a .223 rifle. I've been meaning to get one- I guess this makes the decision more simple.
