Yep it's a type 38 Arisaka, Can you make out any markings on the left side of the receiver right in front of the bolt release lever? That's where they have the manufactures mark and serial number which will give you the when and where it was made...
You're not likely to find another WWII vintage 1911 for their price. I got a GI replacement slide on a '42 Colt frame which was kind of a bummer but it happens. I'd say worth the money but with the caveat that like their Garand sales some people definitely get more lucky than others
I'm thinking the pistol is an Iver Johnson top break with wood grips.
All I can make out is that the Arisaka a type 99, (looks like the store misidentified it) and is from the Kokura Arsenal. This site has a lot of good information about what the markings mean...
Yeah the more I look at it the more I'm thinking universal. The "cheese grater" handguard, the lightened op-rod, the "UFC" on the rear of the receiver.
Those don't really command the same premium as USGI carbines. They usually go for around $500-600. Your one is in amazing condition so...
