Nick does outstanding work. I've always had good luck contacting him on facebook messenger. Usually same day response. He would send me photos of the progress as well.
How long was the wait? I was at GA firing line about a week ago and they said none of theirs had been approved yet. I've got a friend that's been waiting about 5 weeks so far.
Hopefully the eform wait times are reasonable, I haven't heard of any approvals yet. My last form 4 took 390 days from time of purchase until receiving the stamp. This was last month.
Whichever route you choose, I’d recommend a KNS adjustable gas piston. It’ll reduce the at ear noise substantially once adjusted. AKs are way over gased, and a can makes it worse, even the wolverine. I’ve got a Wolverine on my m92 and the difference in sound levels with and without the KNS...
I used the rugged adapter with my octane 9. It fits, but i wouldn’t recommend it. I had a baffle strike the first outing. Got it repaired, baffle strike again the first time shooting after the repair. Sold and got a silencerco, no strikes in thousands of rounds.
The Obsidian would be my choice. Anything with aluminum baffles is going to suck to clean. Not worth the trivial weight savings, or any extra dB reduction, if you ask me.
as long as your tube isn’t damaged, you’re probably good. He made all new end caps and internals on mine. The outside was turned down too to save weight. I think it ended up costing me about 200 bucks, and it was done in a week or so. Just send him a mesage on Facebook messenger and he’ll let...
Have you considered having it rebuilt? I had the Thompson Machine Zephyr. It wasn't all that quiet on anything but a bolt gun, and needed frequent cleaning, which was quite labor intensive being aluminum and all. It's now got an all stainless stack that can withstand heavy fire schedules...
Anything from Thompson Machine. My first 2 cans were from them, bought them at the same time. Sold one, had the other rebuilt into something that didn't suck.
Can't go wrong with the octane. I've had mine for a few years. Sounds great on pistols and sbrs. Cleans up fast and easy. Definately take advantage of SiCos buy one get one promo if you go with an octane.
