    Kernmantle rope. As costly as it is, I'd keep on buying the HSS Lifelines unless you need a longer piece. I'd opt to use it and get a new one each season. My life is worth more than $35/year to me.

    X2 on the Alphas. Muck would be my next choice.

  6. Snake boot advise

    Red Head makes good ones. Think they are called Red Head " Bayou" snake boots. I have some Cabelas brand slip ons that are pretty comfortable and dry.
