    As much as I like to play devil's advocate: lots of "real outdoors-men" would let a venomous (which are not harmless) snake they see in their back yard live, but will blow the head off a squirrel (harmless) with a .22 "just for fun".     those guys are just morons. A .223 is very capable of taking down a boar, just watch the heli-hog hunting vidoes where a guy in a heli takes down hogs while moving in a heli...and maybe 3 shots and the hogs are out for the count in seconds.
