  1. Tried and true methods to bag foxes?

After losing dozens of chickens and ducks over the course of several years to foxes and hawks; we finally just gave up. We only managed to "catch" two of the foxes w/ a .22lr. Although, I also saw a bobcat getting ready to pounce one night, but was unable to get a shot off. I figured the...
  2. Every hunting season do you site in your weapon of choice?

Absolutely, daddy gave us 2-3 rounds to make sure we could still hit bullseye. That was over 30 yr ago, of course. I haven't hunted in that long. Interesting story though: I hunted w/ a 1951 Marlin 30-30 336 w/ a Simmons 3x9 on it, this started in 1982. The scope was mounted back in the...
  3. Here ya go

Rocky would chew his ankles off!!
  4. Just curious...how many rounds do you take with you?

As a young hunter, 10-16ish, I hunted with a fully loaded 30-30 w/ whatever was left in the plastic carrier in my pocket. I often unloaded and reloaded after the adrenaline started pumping. I was a cowboy action hero after all :) Rarely was there more than one deer down or more than one well...
  5. Lizards gone wild

    Like chicken, of course... :boink:
  6. Has this happen to anybody else?

Thanksgiving Day 1988, shot two deer that morning. Hit and killed two deer that night in my truck. Dressed out the first two, did not try to salvage the last two.
  7. D&R Cooler Palmetto, GA

    Yes.
  8. D&R Cooler Palmetto, GA

Depending on which side of Douglas County you are leaving from, Roscoe Deer Processing isn't but 15-20 minutes from D'ville. It's on Roscoe Rd/Hwy 70 in Coweta. My daddy has been using him for several years and is pleased.
  9. Does anyone still get access to hunt property by knocking on doors?

You can go on the county tax website to look for the property owner's name. Just stop and ask. Worse they can say is no. I know because of liabilities and unethical hunters (this guy was one); a lot of property owners do not want people on their lands. Good luck w/ the hunt!!
  10. Does anyone still get access to hunt property by knocking on doors?

I used to work w/ a guy that could walk across the parking lot to get something out of his truck and come back w/ 3 places to hunt and 5 fishing holes. I don't know how he did it, but he was a master at free-loading. :)
  11. Look out for ticks

I have never been around him when he has a reaction, but he claims that he died at his wedding reception dinner by eating a piece of steak and the paramedics brought him back. I know, at least that time, he ended up in the hospital over night from it.
  12. Look out for ticks

It is supposed to very rare, but I know 3 different people with it. 2 (husband and wife) don't eat any 4 legged meat at all, the third one takes a chance from time to time. He has been brought back from the edge 2-3 times that I know of in the back of an ambulance. The Epi pen doesn't...
  13. the worst kind of hunter-shot 2 dogs because he wanted to

Loose dogs chase and kill all kinds of native wildlife. My father got out of having livestock after the neighbor's dogs killed dozens of goats. Neighbor claimed dogs were not his (as it was sitting on his porch beside a dog bowl). Animal control wouldn't do anything because they never caught...
  14. How far do you park your 4-wheeler from you stand?

I know of a hunter that smokes in his stand. Kills a monster just about every year.
  15. Coweta County area?

Yeah, that's another issue. Daddy doesn't go for the wounding and tracking method that so many "hunters" do.
  16. Coweta County area?

You can tell a city boy when he makes claims like that. LOL
  17. Coweta County area?

    Gravel ain't free...
  18. Coweta County area?

Bet it won't stop the lawsuit. Many attorneys are chomping at the bit to make case law. Either way, daddy doesn't allow hunters because he hunts.
  19. Coweta County area?

You've met my father, so you answered your own question. But, seriously, this country has gotten so litigious that land owners are too afraid of law suits to allow strangers to hunt their land. Can't say as I particularly blame them.
