There again, the LEE dies are pretty decent for the money. Not sure if you can get 6.8 in carbide ( I kinda doubt it) but if you can it will keep you from having to do so much lubing. If I remember correctly, the LEE kit even comes with a small tube of rifle case lube. I dont think it comes with...
The LEE Challenger kit is hard to beat to get started. Most of the components will wind up being replaced over the years if you load much but it will get you started fairly cheap. The press is actually pretty good as far as single stage presses go. I still use one after 10 yrs.
I have loaded ALOT of rounds with a LEE measure. They do feel cheap but I got consistantly accurate loads. Wish I still had it sometimes. Don't let the cheap fool ya!
Since no one else seems to have hit on the specifics of why they chose a specific round, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I chose a 30-06 for a few reasons. 1st, it is a VERY common round. 2nd, it has the range to cover any shot I ever anticipate taking, and 3rd, there are virtually unlimited...
I have reloaded literally thousands of rounds for Glocks. I have heard this before but have never seen it in writing anywhere. I can honestlty tell you that between me and two buddies we have easily fired 10,000 rds of reloads through our Glocks with no issues at all. I am not recommending that...
This is in the ammunition, accessories, etc. forum. I think there are several others as well. Might be worth looking into some of the deals on here.

Lee has decent kits that will last forever. I still use a single stage (cause I'm cheap) but I would agree that a turret press is probably best for the $.
I started reloading about 15 yrs ago. I mainly reload handgun calibers but occasionally I'll crank out some 30-06. Haven't done much reloading in the last few years but I recently started teaching two friends how to load. Hopefully they will give me the kick in the but to get back in the swing...
I was digging through some old ammo cans in the garage over the weekend and found about 800 rds of assorted 45 acp ammo i loaded about 10 yrs ago. Most was loaded with Bullseye powder and some with Clays. That Bullseye powder burns DIRTY but it sure does shoot good! Found a few old 30-06 rds...
