  1. Pistol primers???

I have been using CCI #300 for .45, no issues over the course of a few thousand.
  2. Random pics while reloading

yep it is mostly older LC brass and some crimped foreign surplus. Think i am going to invest in a super swage pretty soon.
  3. Random pics while reloading

Ahh nice, I have a lot of crimped .45 brass and some crimped NATO 5.56 and 7.62, looked into a swager awhile back and almost got one but decided to wait on it. My .45 seemed to do OK with the "force it in" method but I havent tried on the rifle brass yet. Thanks for the info.
  4. Random pics while reloading

I see some crimped primer pockets in there, what do you do to process your primer pockets on your surplus brass? Ream it out?
  5. Pet bullet weights

I like 150gr .308 for some reason. Found out my rifle likes factory 150gr SSTs, so i started loading 147gr FMJ and 150 others and never stopped. Only other thing I load right now is 45 and for that I try everything from 185-230, all standard stuff. Settled on 230 just because it has the most...
  6. Wanting to reload for my M1A .308 / 7.62 NATO

Im with ChuckDog here with the cleaning note. You have to pull the action to detail clean an M1A, and I dont like to pull the action on mine unless I have to, so Id stick to copper. Just me tho.
  7. Got some odd ball .45 brass...

Thats a good point Doc, and yeah yall have the right idea I think. I have a enough WRA to run a few boxes at once so I think I will keep that separated, same with my new brass, and box everything else up for use down the road if I need it. Pretty interested to see how this WRA loads up, the...
  8. Got some odd ball .45 brass...

Hey guys, I picked up a bag of used brass at a show awhile bag, got 500 pieces of mostly RP and WRA with some others mixed in. After sorting it all and inspecting some I noticed that the WRA is all crimped primer and from has mid-60's date stamps on the head. I loaded a few dozen of the RP...
  9. 7.62x39 Reloading Cost?

Not being able to shoot steel cased anything these days at ranges is a huge killer to me, wouldnt mind unloading and reloading steel x39 cases with new projectiles just for this!
  10. Slow slide action in my FN using .451 hard cast lead

Thanks man that would be awesome, especially the measurements on your bullets.
  11. Slow slide action in my FN using .451 hard cast lead

I havent really messed with the OAL length too much but yeah I will give the longer length a shot also. I went shorter to try to help with feeding but going longer makes more sense actually when I think about the problem, it seemed like the rounds were jumping off the feed ramp and the tip of...
  12. Slow slide action in my FN using .451 hard cast lead

My last batches were: 180gr LRNFP 4.8gr and 5.2gr Titegroup 1.15 OAL Fed 150 LPP and 230gr LRN 4.8gr Titegroup 1.18 OAL Fed 150 LPP Hogden data calls for 4.2-5.2gr for 180gr LFP and 4.0-4.8gr for 230gr LRN. I have loaded both loads to max and saw some improvement in the 230gr with 4.8...
  13. Slow slide action in my FN using .451 hard cast lead

I have been loading various combinations of .451 hard cast lead (180gr RNFP and 230gr RN, using Titegroup and Clays) in my FNP tactical (5.3" barrel, long slide) and have had a lot of failures no matter what I try. Some normal hangups on the feed ramp and chamber (have been tweaking OAL for...
  14. Close Call Whew!

Yeah thats weird, not a double charge just a bit extra thrown in for good measure :)
  15. Anybody seen brown powder?

DANG, I thought it might have been the picture making it look super long, guess not haha. Thanks for the info :)
  16. Anybody seen brown powder?

What round is that on the right? never seen anything like it.
  17. What do I have?

Data for that load seems a bit low nowadays but you (or rather I) don't know what Bullseye was like 20 years ago, it could have been a lot hotter. I would pull a bullet, check the primer and weigh the charge just to be sure, then test it out with a very critical eye in a sturdy gun.
  18. Reloading Cost benefit Calculator

nice calculator, I like how it breaks the component prices down by the box of reloaded ammo.
  19. 7.62x54r upgrade

And case pressure, since youre using a larger projectile with the same OAL. Kinda starting to sound like a bad idea lol. I would work up a load with less powder first and see how it goes.
  20. 7.62x54r upgrade

Hmmmm, 148gr to 168gr, same powder charge, he could be on to something ^ Unless the smaller projectile would mean less barrel time, since it wouldnt swage as much in the rifling. Dunno man. Again I would want to know what youre firing it in. If it is a Mosin I would say go for it, but yeah...
