Maybe I wasn't clear. The truck was not totaled. There was $6k in repairs that were completed with OEM parts. Diminished value is the difference between what I could get before the wreck and what I can get now.

I bought the ecoboost and have 23k on it so far. I've had no problems and I was on the fence like you a year ago. The torque is awesome. I hope the engine holds up long term but only time will tell. There is no MPG gain in buying the twin Turbo. YouTube the torture tests ford put it through.
