    I've seen 308 fired through a 30-06 in a Garand. Accuracy went to pot and the shooter couldn't figure out why. When the casings were found they were split at the neck, and he realized he'd prepped his en-block with ammo for his M-1A instead of his M1. The Garand seemed undamaged by it.
