Yup. Not a fan. Tried it, and it gummed up. Told the guy selling it at the NRA show, and he told me I wasn't using it right.
Quickly let him know that would never be a problem again.
Any local recommendations for custom load development?
I would like for someone to develop a custom hunting load for one of my rifles. It shoots well with factory ammo, but I know it could be better.
Any recommendations? Prefer someone within driving distance of Canton, GA (3-6 hours)...
Posting for someone from another forum -
Winchester Model 63 blue/wood with a distinct chip off the bottom of the stock. (22LR)
Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag in Mossy Oak camo with a single TINY gold bead front sight
Ruger American .270 in a gray Boyd's laminate thumbhole stock with a Bushnell Elite...
In factory guns, look to the POF
I have shot it at 300 yards, and it's no challenge to ring the 4" gong regularly. It shoots better than most shooters can tell.
Right front pocket for smaller guns, OWB strong side (right) with an untucked shirt to cover.
I've been happy with every Galco holster I've ever owned. Never tried IWB. There's enough inside my waistband without adding a gun.
Condition is a little rough, but it depends on what you paid. I know someone who has a S&W with a broken right side grip like the old round butt you show here. PM me a price and dimensions for that, please. He might take it off your hands.
All of these still have value, they're just not what...
If you bought an older car, say a 1957 Chevy, would you want one period correct, with drum brakes, points and condenser, 2 barrel carb, bias ply tires, 3 on the tree, and no A/C? If so, buy the Colt or one of the clones. Nice, but they have their issues and require maintenance.
Or would you...
There is a fine slate of candidates this term. One in particular that I feel strongly about is Duane Liptak Jr.

Key positions for me are his support for removal of suppressors, short barrel rifles, and short barrel shotguns from the NFA registry.
Also cool...
And most muzzle brakes are loud enough to cause inexperienced shooters to flinch. Why not pick a caliber with light recoil that kills clean?
I never said the .308 was a heavy recoiling cartridge, or that it was too much for me. I have several, and shoot them often. Just saying that in a light...
And I like the .308, just not the best fit for his request. I made the mistake once of trying to put together a lightweight .308 rig for hunting. Weighed 6 lbs, 2 oz with the scope, and would loosen your teeth. Kicked worse than my .300 Win Mag.
I also think it's interesting in today's internet...
I'll resurrect an older thread with new info.
Shot two last week in Alabama with my new rig, a Kimber 84m Hunter in .257 Roberts. One buck fell in his tracks, the other made it almost 20 yards. Most impressed with this light kicking caliber. Entire rig weighs just over 6 lbs.
