    We'll as for caliber the 06 ammo is available almost anywhere you go. And if your hunting thick cover factory ammo offers the 220 grn bullet which honestly hit deer like a freight train.     Need info on this OLD hunting rifle

    I don't think it can be a 30-06 pulled my 303 out of the safe the -06 round is about a 1/4" too long for the mag. On top of that the enfeild action was not built to with stand the pressure of of the 30-06. So I would definitely recomend you take it to a gun smith to be safe. More than likely...
