Caliber has nothing to do with quality. A Smith .22 revolver in J, K or L frame has the same internal workings as any larger caliber one, just smaller holes.
Go to www.alexandersstore.com and sign up for their ads. When they run a sale, it's ridiculous. I walked out with mine for $480 and change including tax. Down side is they are in Blairsville.
Ruger makes a lightweight Commander using the Colt Series 70 action. It has about all the "goodies" a person would want on it from the factory. Extended slide and magazine release. Over-size beavertail. Low profile Novak 3 dot sights. All for less than $700 new. You may get some nay-sayers...
Got mine from Synergy Firearms at a gun show. They are out of Gainesville and attend most major shows. Love mine. $560 with night sites. Can find them online.
I have one in 9mm and .45. Like them both over Glocks. Better trigger and grip. Like the modular feature too. My 9 was bought as a carry model. For the price of a new frame (around $40) and a magazine I can make into a compact. The carry model has 17 rounds and is a little bigger than a Glock 19.
Why not a Sig P320? Trigger is better than Glock. No safety to fiddle with in a stress situation. More rounds. Great night sights. Easier to maintain. Cheaper to purchase.
