    Did you buy it? Details?
  2. Springfield 1911-A1 collector value?

I have several early (1990 and older) commercial Springfields. They are good quality, but not really collectable. I’ve spent less than $500 on each of mine.
  3. Gunsmith Recommendations

    You’re a good fellow, Shep.
  4. Overstamped serial number on Browning SA22

I have a Smith 442 with an overstamped serial number. I think it’s cool. Matching box etc so no doubt of it’s legality. Congrats on the neat old gun.
  5. SMITH WESSON 681

Love my 681 no dash. I paid $420 for mine in excellent shape. It's one that I won't let get away.
  6. Convince me a SCAR 17 isn't the way to go

Shemp - PM me if you'd like to make the ride over to Sharpshooters or Riverbend to shoot mine. I already posted in this thread my opinion, but think it's worth reiterating one thing: I'm not in love with the platform... to me guns are not an emotional object. I don't think it's the best thing in...
  7. Convince me a SCAR 17 isn't the way to go

I transitioned from M1A's to SCAR 17s a couple of years ago. I loved my M1As (at various times, an older Bush 18" model, a newer Supermatch, and a Socom 16), but just got frustrated with the lack of optic mounting solutions. The supermatch, I was afraid to take apart to clean out of fear of...

  9. Need some help here with Smith and wesson revolver.

It's a round butt N-frame. Round to square conversion grips that cover the backstrap (like the Hogues you're probably looking at) will make the recoil more manageable.
  10. Ammo price crash?

It'll drop more, but there's only so far it can fall. Commodity prices are down, but they won't be dropping to historical lows with all the growth in Asia chewing up raw materials. I expect things to stabilize back to where 223/556 is less than .30/round, 9mm at .20/round, and .45 at .30/round...
  11. Butt Ugly Springfield 1911, Refinishing & Trigger Recommendations?

Just has to do with age. The crest moved rear to front at some point in the early 90s. Here is my 1991 production Springfield, with crest to the rear.

  13. remington 700 ? adl?

You can buy used BDL bottom metal for cheap... $40 is the most I've ever paid, including hardware and mag spring and follower. Same thing on a used BDL stock... just a regular synthetic or wood BDL stock can be had for $50 or less. If you have a rifle that you like, I don't think it's a bad...
