Had an SKS that shot about like that. Never could figure it out. Bore looked pretty good. All my other Russians and Chinese kept it under 6"

I've had an Enfield that was so shot out it was throwing knuckle balls and a Mosin that must of been out of spec in the chamber cause 2 or 3 of each 5 rounds fired would split the case up in the shoulder area and be a pain to extract.

Another vote for 54R... But 303 (if you consider WW's and colonial fighting) and 8mm have both sure done a lot of fighting... The Jap calibers racked up huge numbers in China/ Manchuria too early in the war
You know, every time I have traded for a sporter I said "Hey, its a good deal and I just want to shoot it anyway." But every single time, in time, I end up really wishing it was as issued.
I used an SKS back in the 90's (not trying to get it started here but dont tell me 7.62x39 is like a 30-30).For most of the last 15 years or so it was all typical, commercial 30-30, 270, 30-60 and 45-70. I recently picked up a Sporterized .303 I plan on hunting with some.
Yea, I think a refit is in order. I was looking for any old 303 and ended up with a US made/ war time production with maching numbers and a great bore. It deserves better than its current state.
After researching it this is indeed the case. It was made by Savage, marked as "US PROPERTY" so we could send it to GB under lend lease, because it had to be "ours" so we could "lend" it. This one really looks to be in pretty good shape. Its British proofed so it did make the trip. A pretty cool...
Cleaning it up a bit. Numbers match on the wrist, bolt and magazine. The bore looks very good and bright/ shiny. Looks a little bit dark in part of one of the grooves. 2 groove rifling with a pretty deep crown. The trigger doesnt feel half bad (for a mil surp) breaks at 6.5 lbs. The action is...
If yall will excuse me, I am some what Enfield ignorant...
I traded into what I only new to be a sporterized .303 Enfield with a good bore. I wanted it as a shooter/nostalgia hunter. Now that I've got it home and am giving it a good once over I see that it is a No.4 MK1*. It has the regular...
Yea, I own rifles worth more than my truck. We call that prioritys... but when there worth more than the wifes car... Well we dont talk about that.
Amazing collection! Sure you had a great range day.
