Also , look at the bolt. It has will have abbreviated name's such as SA, HRA , IHC with numbers clearly seen on top.
You won't know if is a good shooter until your able to shoot at 100yds and with good sight adjustments. Of course you must do your part.

The P is a proof stamp. Some will have them , some won't .
The pressed stamp on the side of the stock showing GA/CMP is a dead give away of a new wood, not authentic GI wood from WW11 / or post war wood.

Yeah, a lot of people / not all , have created a money making business of buying from CMP . And then reselling for a higher price to make a profit.
These are the common Q's to ask anyone selling military surplus Garands.
Since the reciever is Springfield, is the barrel the same name. If not look at the barrel, provide the makers name. Trigger mechanism , trigger should have makers name on it, the housing should also have makers name, trigger guard also. Is it milled/stamped part ?
The stock is a Cmp stock , so...
CMP paper work ? Certificate of authentication?
ME/TE measurements. Is this a mixed parts Garand ?
