I saw a pair of 1911's several years ago at the Atlanta gun show that were hard chromed and the glow was like the bottom photo... Very sharp looking.
it's an excellent finish, very durable and wear resistant. As well as being very attractive.
Tripps used (stopped doing it) to be the go to place for hard chrome but Cogan's still does it and does top notch work.

I had this same one and gave it to my son for his 16th birthday. Nice plinkers run pretty darn good and the barrel of mine is threaded.
EDIT: Mine was the older version, digging the new grip style.

A real classic right here and if the finish is in great shape a real deal. it will stack them one on top another if you do your part.
^^^^ Yep, check that "match grade" trigger first. See if the trigger bow protrudes in the magwell and run your finger inside the magwell to check for a protruding grip screw than needs a tad shortening.
You can check the magazine for drag marks or black sharpie a silver magazine to check for...
