    Can i self repair the water heater part?

    The valve is not part of the water heater but a separate part of your plumbing. It is not normally replaced except when it fails. I regulates the water pressure downstream of the valve, in this case your hot water heater. If it were to fail, the your system would be exposed to street pressure.
