My ‘02 and my ‘13 both average 17 mpg. Both prerunners. So if gas mileage is a concern you might be disappointed. I don’t know if the 3rd gens are any better or not.
No experience with the newer Colorados. I heard bad things about the old 5 cylinder models.
I had an '02 Tacoma that I got rid of because it had 250,000 miles on it. No issues with it, just getting high in miles. Traded it for a piece of crap '07 F150 that was a money pit.
