  1. fishing spots in/near roswell?

I fish off a bank just east of where highway 9 crosses the Hooch. I think its still called highway 9 there, just south of dow town roswell at the bottom of the steep hill with the suicide lane. Turn east at the bottom of the hill and look immediately right, theres a small dock on an inlet...
  2. Fishing WMA property with a GORP

Definitely, good info man thanks. If the group GORP doesnt cover the activities, just access, I think we will stick with day passes this year for the fam.
  3. Fishing WMA property with a GORP

Ahhh OK thats what I was afraid of, it would still cover her fishing req though right? Or would I still need to get her an annual fishing license? I hate this licensing crap, so much hassle.
  4. Fishing WMA property with a GORP

Hey all, got a question about the new GORP pass. I was renewing licenses for me and my lady for this year and since she doesnt hunt, only shooting range and fishing on WMA property, I was going to get her a GORP pass instead of a WMA pass for this year. Same price, really but seems to offer...
  5. Bass and crappie at Charlie Elliott?

Anyone ever fish the Charlie Elliott WMA for bass and crappie? I have read a few tips around the web, people saying the smaller lakes are better for the most part, especially for shore fishing (no boat for me yet :( ). Any tips of bait or locations? Was planning to drop a crappie rig on one...

Thanks for the advice everyone! Stopped at bass pro this weekend and picked up one of their segmented travel rods and a Shimano reel that can handle 10lb line. Also got a super small tackle box and a good selection of tackle/lures (this was the hardest part, its tough to pick stuff out when...

Great advice man, thanks for the info! I'll report back after the trip and give an update on how it went.
  8. New to fishing, need some info (light weight/compact fishing gear)

I looked into those but I dont think they are exactly what Im looking for. More interested in a traditional style rod and reel that I can pack up and take with me anywhere. How do you like yours anyway, does it feel similar to a full size rod?
  9. New to fishing, need some info (light weight/compact fishing gear)

On this upcoming trip I want to try a bit of surf casting using a double drop rig and live bait, but mostly I will be fishing for bass and trout or whatever else wherever I might be hiking. Probably more rivers and streams than lakes.
  10. New to fishing, need some info (light weight/compact fishing gear)

Im taking a trip to Cumberland Island in a month or so and want to pick up a fishing setup for backpacking that I can take with me. I am somewhere between an ultralight and distance backpacker, usually carrying around 20-25lbs in a 45 liter pack. What Im looking for is a fishing rig I can use...
