Went down to Charlie Elliot this morning and was getting into them pretty good. They were chasing shad like crazy in the shallows. Caught on topwater, rattletrap and small weightless flukes.
Had to leave early though....Dad decided to jump/fall head first off the back of the boat into the...
I prefer a vest when trout fishing. i tried a sling pouch and it was digging into my neck the entire time and lasted only a few hours before i put my vest back together lol. im a bigger guy also, pushin 300 and 6'3 lol. vest also gives yeah enough pockets for knick knacks and snacks.
this...
boing!!! lol. seriously jealous over here lol. very nice. i dream of the day i see a bunch like this at a garage sale for like 5 bucks each haha.
dont ya love the days when spinning reels came with an extra spool? peperidge farm remembers!
nevermind the loomis.....im drooling over that original stradic.....mmmmmmm shimano doesnt make repair kits or anything for that model anymore. so when it goes, it goes :( im down to only 1 now.
part of the reason i love trout magnets, besides they work awesome lol, is that ive never gut hooked a fish with them. always in the mouth.
my drifting technique i always (when i can) cast upstream and as it comes back keep my slack reeled in just enough for it to bounce along the bottom and...
i have the floats....ive tried the floats.....ive never caught crap with the float on lol.
might be helpful on larger parts of a stream to help with casting distance. but i dont fish on big enough water to have tried it.
gold jigheads seem to work the best. and as far as the body color.....it can be all over the place lol. pink is always a solid choice. the greens seem to work well also.
drift them with the current. always try to throw upstream and just let it drift down and past ya. if the waters slow i give...
i feel like im cheating when i use trout magnets lol. its been all i bring with me when i go to the mountains for the past few years. just find the right color jighead and body color and you will feel like your at a pay lake haha.
i never had a issue with it while using bigger water jointed rapalas and spinners and such while below the damn or any big deep water trout areas. always either use straight florocarbon, or a copolymer with floro in it though. although if im still wanting a smaller presentation: live, salmon...
4lb p-line floro for the mountains.
i upgrade to my light bass rig with 8lb p-line floroclear mono if i go to big water with a chance of one of those monster browns lol.
check out the cabelas and bass pro house brands. they are solid. had a pair of redhead (bass pro) neoprene waders for quite a few years. only reason i stopped wearing them is my gut outgrew them haha.
yo drew! i used to go below the damn all the time when i lived in Buford. you HAVE to have some chest waders to get out away from all the people to the holes in the middle of the river if you want a good chance of catching something there. you wont catch nothing next to shore unless they just...
my absolute favorite rod (i will cry if i ever break it lol) is my 6 foot 6 inch g loomis GTX i bought when i worked at the original bass pro in the late 90s. did the whole employee special order and only cost me 100 bucks to get it, and i regret not spending a extra 20 bucks for them to put my...
x2 on charlie elliot. its a drive for ya but can be worth it. fishing is hit or miss, but when its on its on fire down there. i usually make a day of it when i go down there, they have a nice shooting range also. pistol and a 100yd rifle. if they aint biting i go pop off some rounds and makes me...
