  7. Recurve Guru's help a brother out

Link is a dead end! Flemish is a type of knot that is used to make a bow string kinda like a endless loop string. Either style can be made using any type of string material from fastflight to dacron. Most older bows do not have the extra overlays on the tips to keep from busting the tips off...
  8. Recurve Guru's help a brother out

Can you quote me that somewhere? I have never heard different lengths strings because of the string mateial? The length is going to be the same no matter what material it is made of. 3" shorter for being a long bow is the best place to start. NEVER use fast flight on a old bow unless you...
  9. Recurve Guru's help a brother out

Right off the top of my head with that being more of a long bow than a recurve your looking at a string 3 inches shorter than the amo length. A 57inch 12 strand DACRONstring would be a good starting point. You will have to adjust to get this right. The shape is more of a longbow versus a...

If it is a Bear Grizzly recurve bow. It should be a 58" amo length which will require a 54" actual length string. I have owned and have made a few strings for them. As long as the limbs are straight, no cracks in the limbs and not separating sounds like a good bow. You can learn the year it...

  12. Destroyed an arrow...

Nice shooting... Now do that with a Recurve or a Longbow. I got few of thoose trophies from shooting Recurves the last few years. And the mythbusters was trying to split a wooden arrow with a broadhead like in the Robin Hood movie. No comparison to this unless I missed a diferent epsiode.

  14. Bear Recurve....I need it strung.

You will need either a flemish twist string (prefered) or a endless loop string. Don't use antthing but B-50 dacron on it our you could damage the bow. I make flemish b-50 strings as a hobby. I own like 12 or so recurves.
