  3. Savage 840 project

If you ever pick up one of the Savage 330/840 rifles, send me a PM and I’ll give you the details of what I used for the setup.
  4. Savage 840 project

Thanks, but I’m gonna hang on to her. A lifelong friend of mine gave this to me as a gift.
  5. Savage 840 project

Been a while since I updated. I had an issue with getting the correct replacement screws for the recoil lug and barrel band. I finally got it assembled. I decided to hold off on threading it. I have enough 30 cal hosts and I wanted this one to stay light and maneuverable.
  6. Tiffany 1860 Army Blackhawk

Now that is true talent and artistry at work Sir! I enjoy looking at the fine work that you do!
  7. Savage 840 project

Scout scope is enroute as of today. I found a good deal on a Vortex 2-7 Scout Scope. My barreled action should be back from the gunsmith’s one day this week.
  8. Need some help finding a stock for a shotgun.

Did you try contacting Legacy Sports International? I believe that they were imported by them.
  9. Savage 840 project

A 5/8x24 thread job and a scout rail are in the works. Now it’s time to start looking into a good Scout scope.
  10. Savage 840 project

The barreled action is going to my gunsmith Thursday morning. He’s going to mic the barrel to see if it can be threaded and I’m going to see what my options are for an alternative to the side mounted scope base. I’m not crazy about that setup.

    So far so good.

Got my first coat of oil on the stock. I’ll give it a little while and then hit it with some steel wool to fill the grain in.
  14. Savage 840 project

I’ll probably stick with factory 30/30 ammo since it is so inexpensive.
  15. Savage 840 project

If that textured finish would’ve been intact, I would’ve left it as is and shot the heck out of it.
  16. Savage 840 project

Thanks. It wasn’t used very often, so the wood was in really good condition. I’ll start putting the finish on the Stock tonight.
  17. Savage 840 project

Talk about an ugly duckling. I got it all sanded down super smooth and wiped it off with a damp rag. This stock resembles my Glenfield 60’s Stock. I believe it’s Maple. I love those tiger stripes.
  18. Savage 840 project

Coming along nicely. The coating on the stock came off quite easily. Now it’s time for some extensive hand sanding. I need to do some research and see if the action on this rifle will hold up with full house loads while suppressed. If not, it’ll still be a fun little rifle to hunt with.
  19. Savage 840 project

I recently acquired a new to me plinker. It’s a Savage 840 bolt action in 30/30. It was in good working order but the stock needs some attention. Bluing is really good considering it’s age, so I may just let that part be for now. I’m seriously considering having it threaded 5/8x24 for use with...
