It came out pretty easy once I removed the barrel from the upper after making a tool. No damage what’s so ever. And since the barrel was out, I put it in the lathe and polished it up some with some diamond grit. She looks very pretty now. All is good…..just waiting on my next match.
It’s a JP GMR15 rifle, yes they were reloads. There’s no telling how many times the brass shot as I get them from all over or they may have been some 9mm major loads. It happens, no big deal.
I finally got it out today at work. I had to make a barrel nut wrench to fit JPs barrel nut. Then used a reamer to go in the brass to grab it, then it finally came out. Thanks for the suggestions.
I have a case head separation in a 9mm AR. I tried different size bore snakes to pull it out, multiple over sized brushes to pull it out. I even tried inserting a 223 case and letting the bolt slam on it, then extract it, no luck either. Even tried a long 90degree pick to pull it out. Nothing...
A regular tap and die set will not work. You will need an STI tap. You need to find the pitch of the threads then go buy helicoils kit that has the drill, tap and install tool. Or just spend that money on a quality rail.
