  4. 1911 help

Thanks gabow. Ill give kimber cs a shot. If I was a 1911 purist I probably wouldn't have got it, but this was my first 1911, so in a way its "sentimental". Ill call cs and see about a replacement. What's the reccomended function check for 1911 thumb safeties, I've heard its a listening thing...

worth a shot then I guess, but still has to be fitted.
  6. 1911 help

Im not calling that place LOL. I've read horror stories about their cs. I'd go the cerakote route but I want to leave the gun as original as possible.
  7. 1911 help

The wear marks don't really bother me, but the flaking irritates the piss out of me. I'm really not big on cerakoting guns.

  11. 1911 help

Also if refinished I need it to match the Kim pro finish.
  12. 1911 help

I need a reputable 1911 Smith that can fit a new thumb safety for me, or refinish the current thumb safety. Rest of the gun is fine but the flaking on the safety bothers me. Please pm me or post here with rates for both options ad well as time frame please. Thanks in advance!
  13. Project SRDelta

Haha dude those are sick! can't wait to see the finished product :thumb:
  14. Project SRDelta

*****! Georgia's humidity is nice compared to Mississippi. My first 2 years of apprenticeship as the shovel man proved it. I could wipe sweat with my shirt and 2 hours later that spot is still there, even under a shade tree you'd still be soaked with sweat. The first year I worked in Georgia the...
  15. Project SRDelta

Damn you must be a 1911 guru as well. Wasn't til you said that I recognized the grips.

  18. Tightened upper too much in vice....

I tightened mine down on the rail, with the rubber boots on so I wouldn't scratch or bend it.
  19. How would you fix this yourself?

I have an excellent method for fixing... buy 250 rounds of ammo, shoot it. Throw in the dirt, clean repeat..then, get a cheap holster that will allow you to put a spare mag on the top of holster. Load gun up and Viola!!! You have a car gun/bedside gun or even an edc you're not afraid to...
  20. How to be a Gun Smith?

Use your gi bill for school, army training will help, don't do much for civilian world. I know a medic that's able to perform minor and major surgery, don't mean **** outside army life though.
