Have a stainless barrel that I want to have black oxide treated to match the rest of the build. Is there someone in the Atlanta metro area that offers this service?
When I got the gun 40 odd years ago the barrel was shot out and the finish rough. I sent it to Smith&Wesson and for the princely sum of $50.00 they rebarreled and refinished it along with replacing the cylinder. The original cylinder had the stepped chambers and I thought this one did too...
I have a 1917 Smith that will chamber 45 Colt but the rim thickness leaves a pretty good gap between the cartridge base and the shield. The firing pin protrudes enough that it might fire but I'm thinking the setback might damage the gun. Any suggestions on how to make this combo work safely...
