4Patriots food

I usually stick with My Patriot Supply, although their prices have gone up a bit over the past few years. I stay away from Wise, that stuff is basically salt in a bag.

Was not fond of any of the Wise I've tried for the same reason. My wife actually likes a few of the Mountain House that we've used for hiking/camping, so that's mostly what I get.

I have not personally. But I wouldn't base the value on the cost per serving, I would base it on the cost per calories, i.e. how much nutritional ROI are you getting.

OP, not sure which option you're looking at on the 4Patriots site, but there are a couple of things to consider before you make that purchase. It's true that figuring the cost per calorie is only part of the equation, but their 4-Week Emergency Survival Food Kit (priced at $280) delivers 192 servings or an estimated 1300 calories a day.

Conventional nutritional wisdom says that a male adult needs between 2200 and 3000 calories a day. If your activity level is low during the time on that menu, 1300 is going to leave a man hungry even if he's not involved in strenuous activity. If you're trying to function during a natural disaster, undertaking repairs, hauling things around and doing general heavy work, you probably need a lot more than that.

This isn't an issue isolated to 4Patriots, of course, but it might factor into your selection of the type of survival packs you should be selecting.
