64 Handguns and Rifles Stolen From Macon Gun Store

Bibb County sheriffs investigators said more than 64 guns and rifles were stolen from Classic Firearms, 5854 Columbus Road, just after midnight Wednesday.

Four men bashed their way into a Bibb County gun shop early Thursday. They made off with eight AR-15 rifles and more than 50 handguns.The stolen weapons, which had a combined retail value of more than $60,000, included small pistols and large-caliber revolvers.

Buddy Webb, the shop’s owner who’s been in business there more than two years, said thieves tried but failed to bust in a few months back by ramming a truck into a back door.“If they really want to get in, they can,” he said.“Obviously, the criminals want to buy guns, and they can’t come in and legally buy them. ... They want to buy them on the street. So somebody steals them and they buy them.”
