I have a batch of Sierra 300 grain JSP’s I’d like to use up in my Uberti Cimarron cattleman revolver. Obviously I’d like to keep loads softer and not exceed pressures for this replica revolver.
I currently have Red Dot, Titegroup, CFEpistol and W231 on hand. Any of yall been down this particular road or have any starting points you’d recommend?

Best Regards.

I don't know the pressure rating for the Uberti but the 45 LC New Vaqueros are rated to 45 acp pressures - thinking 23,000. You can find data on those by searching for 45 LC Tier II loads.

You will need to use loads designed for single action colts in Uberti as they are about same strength wise. I load 300 grains for black hawks but stay with 250 grains lead for my new model Vaqueros.

I figure worse case I will chuck these Sierras up in the lathe chuck and run some material out of the soft point using a counter sink yielding something in the 250 to 260 range. I will make a handful with titegroup and CFEp first hopefully with good results…

Titegroup would be the best powder to start with. I know it's used a lot in low case volume loads and tends to be less position sensitive compared to some other powders (i.e. if the powder is in the back of the case vs in the front of the case when the primer is hit can create very different pressure and velocities).

Most of the cowboy action loads are going to be for lighter bullets (200-250gr) so there might not be much out there for the heavies.

Might be worth it to see if you can find someone to trade for some lighter bullets?
