Sorry I can't help. I thought that was commie dirty trick in the form of a painful finger trap.
From a well known and trusted AK forum
“The original hole is 5.5" deep with a spring inserted for the pill tube cleaning kit. The hole is .825" in diameter +/-. The area adjacent to the hole must also be cleared to allow the trap door or swing open and closed etc. As noted., not a easy install unless you have the tools and buttstock parts.”
