Went to another job fair today and as usual just a total waste of time. Pay checks for patriots they called it. Only thing there was college wanting you to go to spend you GI college fund, and low wage blue collar jobs. 8yrs military service and 3 college degrees and can't find a real job. Its hard to keep the faith.

Every job I've ever had came thru a friend or ex co-worker. Job fairs, want ads, or mailing out resumes just never worked for me.
My grandson (x-marine) experienced the same thing as you. He thought a job would find him paying $60 or $70k but those jobs are few and far between. He finally landed a job, thru a friend making about half of his expectations, but it is a JOB.
Important for you to maintain a good additude, search EVERYDAY, and by all means, KEEP UP THE FAITH.
Maybe an ODT brother can hook you up with something.

I've had 4 career jobs, uncharacteristically none of them have been via contacts. First out of school, result of mass mailing resume's. Second paying money to a recruiter, got the second job I interviewd for. Third, online want ad, got the first job I interviewed for, but it did take an uncomfortable amount of time for that first interview. Fourth, online want ad. Only one I applied to, got the interview, got the job. I've been lucky. It certainly is one of the least favorite things in the world but it is a numbers game. You've got to make 'x' contacts before your number comes up. You have to look at 'looking for a job' AS your job. Easy for me to say... I know....

I have 2 degrees in political science and 1 in criminal justice. What I am looking, at this point, anything that will help me pay off my student loans, so a real job, I have given up on hopes and dreams. I currently work at moe's for $11, so something much better then that.

Have you checked with Atlanta PD? You have the qualifications that would give their recruiters a hard on for sure and their pay is in the 22 dollars an hour range.

Tell us more about your degree's? 4 year or 2 year degrees? A reputable accredited university or University of Phoenix online?

Hell, look into some of the higher level PSC companies. Many do in country EP work or contract out for nuclear facility or other high value security. I'm not talking warm body in a uniform, I'm talking Federal contracted high level tactical security services. Well equipped, well trained and paid very well as long as you don't mind travel or maybe moving if needed.
