Okay, I'm watching the latest episode of American Guns (using on demand) and laughing. They are working on an FN 5.7 ... 3500 bucks for a scope and mount, and they convinced the guy to get it engraved (of course) and cerakoted (because cerakote is 10 times more wear resistant than the factory finish! according to the main idiot). I know this idiotic show is scripted but really... can't they at least use reasonable numbers for the crap they build? Ironically, I think this is a gun show for people that don't anything about guns... they really don't know their audience.

And I really hate the son on this show... maybe because he wears his hat a little sideways...

That is a high end shop with high end clientele. The clients know what they are getting for their money. Most shop owners and gunsmiths aspire for that level of success. Why do we always see folks bashing successful businessmen just cause they're on TV? Nobody seems to knock or complain about the prices or the work or the wait time (sometimes 5 to 7 years) of Richard Heinie, Wayne Novak Les Baer, Ed Brown, Bill Wilson Doug Turnbull, David Tubbs, Kenny Jarret and others. Getting just what you want when you want it. is more often a question of money than if it can be done.
If you're happy with a low end purchase and think a factory Rock Island or Remington is as good as a Richard Heinie Or Kenny Jarrett ,or not worth the money charged by a them then that's your thing.
If you possess the skills to build a nice custom that's great and an economical way to enjoy one but don't expect to pull the prices commanded by some of the aforementioned smiths for your work until the industry recognizes you as one of the best.
High end shop, Good reputation by those in the industry, High end clientele, Success.
Why hate? Are you jealous?

Wouldn't it be great to watch a real show taking place say in Mansfield (you know, where the zombies are ) in an old general store. They could swap guns and
tall tales. ODT members could be the pretend guests and real gunsmiths could repair their antique guns for cheap prices (like Turtle Man). Occasionally a celebrity could get lost and stop in for directions....Charleton Heston types.

I think it is as retarded as sons of guns, its a gun store for people that have more money than brains. Oooh I want a desert eagle 50ae with a scope, bipod, and compensator ,

There is a lot to hate on the show but clearly, I still watch it. I understand that the customers are high-end, etc. but my conjecture is that the prices are high to make things more sensational for TV, also they act like they are inventing items that already exist... anyway, I'm not slamming their success, clearly a lot of it is simply made up for TV (IMO)

Jealous, no... only of the ability to blow stuff up every week, that is pretty cool. Also, I wouldn't compare gunsmoke with Ed Brown, etc. but that's just me.

why i watch the show...
