The anti gun crowd are just too smart and have published a study that mixes gun related deaths with public safety and pits the US where the people legally own guns against the rest of the world where the majority of citizens are not allowed to own guns and determines that more guns means more gun related deaths in the US. Really? Wow, what a revelation Spanky!!

The American Journal of Medicine is an authority on firearms? Really?

They should become an authority on how to prevent killing people in their care!! http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2000/07/30/doctors-death-part-one.aspx

ALL THESE ARE DEATHS PER YEAR:

12,000 -- unnecessary surgery
7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals
20,000 -- other errors in hospitals
80,000 -- infections in hospitals
106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs
These total to 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes!!
What does the word iatrogenic mean? This term is defined as induced in a patient by a physician's activity, manner, or therapy. Used especially of a complication of treatment.

Note how the study ONLY addresses deaths from firearms. How about they compare how many violent crimes are committed in general? The last I saw, Great Britain had about five times as many violent crimes per 100,000 than the US. Does it really make any difference if the rapist shoots his victim after the attack or just strangles her? She has been raped and murdered either way. On the other hand, if she had been allowed to carry a gun maybe neither would have happened.
