I traded an old homemade non working log splitter for this 4 digit serial number P38
I’ve been looking online but haven’t seen anything chrome/nickel any information regarding details and value would be much appreciated. Thank you.

After WWII some folks would have their bring-back pistols nickel plated to look more "trophy gun" like. Unfortunately that hurts the value vs original finish. byf is Oberndorf factory code.

Made mid-WWII. The chrome plating kills the collector value, probably as much as 50%.

I'm going to estimate that it is worth $500 to $600.
