I'm giving my step-dad's 70's model 870 Wingmaster a makeover for Christmas. My brother flowered out the barrel at a dove shoot about 3 years ago and it's been sitting in his closet ever since. And it looked horrible, receiver and tube are rusting, wood looks like someone wiped their ass with it several times. Gunk is caked all over the bolt and I'm having a hell of a time bringing it back to it's former glory.
I've already got the stock and forearm refinished and I'm going to send the receiver, tube and new barrel off to get cerakoted Friday. This bolt though is giving me a fit. I've read that the Wingmaster bolts are chromed, is there any sure fire way of getting this old, caked up gunk off of it?
