Recently I picked up a Bersa 380 Thunder and like most of them it just came with one magazine. The guy I bought it from was kind enough to supply me with a ProMag for a Sig P226 (?) Single stack 380... which fits quite nicely with no modifications.
I was speaking to letusbuyyourcar letusbuyyourcar and he told me some unusual applications for Hi-Point magazines without modification.

Recently I purchased a star bm9 which of course had one magazine
I did a little research and found a nine mm ProMag which required extensive modifications, trimming, enlarging the safety catch, trimming the base plate...

Out of curiosity I went back to the Bersa to see what other magazines I had around would possibly at least slide into the opening. I was amazed to find a Jennings Bryco JIMINEZ also fit the Thunder 380 but would require just the mag release to be notched.
See the picture below.
My question is this when we run across these pistols that have either very expensive magazines, or magazines that are no longer available in the star case it appears the only solution is to adapt...

What magazines have you used 4 a pistol it was not made for with little issues? If it required any modification let me know that too.
This is the kind of stuff that keeps me up at night....

I'll tell you what didn't work. Way back around 93 the first pistol I bought myself was a Taurus PT99 in satin nickel. Taurus mags weren't as widely available as they are now. So naturally I tried a mag for a Beretta 92. I immediately noticed that the Taurus mag had a larger catch hole which was square shaped. The Beretta mag had this really narrow slot in the same spot but not nearly big enough. Yeah I probably couldver Resnecked it with the Dremel but decided not to .
