Best bang for my buck AK47? (Poll added)

I am thinking about getting another AK for a backup and just in case scenarios. Something that goes bang every time that I can put into a semi trained monkey's hands Not looking for anything fancy or collectible. Just a reliable tool. I don't know enough about the AK to know who to stay away from. Would like to stay sub $500. Thank you in advance.

You will hear people cautioning people to avoid the "ones with canted sights." I've owned dozens of AK's, to include several WASR's and each shot to POA. If the price is right, buy it. It will outlast and live you - but the AK snob mob will deride you....if that doesn't matter then more power to you.

Honestly, they aren't that bad, like Rom said. Ive owned several and they all went bang. Best Ak for the $$.
