Just wanted to pass on something for your broken toes. Provided not clean breaks or severe displacements, just old man breaks, don't take much more than a stub.

Well, I took some of the thin packing foam (not the bubble pack) and tore it big enough to cushion the broke digit, about 1 1/2". Wrap with the good 3M Blue masking tape, one wrap to the next toe over.

Plenty of room for a sock and boot. Still feels ok at the end of the day.

Don't take much to make me happy. I have a propensity to break bones. Gonna continue this warp everyday until I can walk without a limp.

I broke my big toe in boot camp but I never said a word because I didn't want to get recycled.
I completed FAOBC with a broken right wrist before seeking attention (stupid I know). I hated wearing a cast. I was able to get through by doing push ups on my balled fists instead of flat handed. Had to have a necrotic bone excited and replaced eventually. Still hurts 28 years on, lol.

Wear house-shoes, or loafers, even in the house. Years ago, early one morn, I was sliding a .50 cal. ammo can, off the top of a stack, about 4' high. I was barefoot, of course(dumbass). As I moved the top can, it caught the handle of the can underneath(which had about 20# of ammo inside), causing said can to launch onto my vulnerable next-to-pinky-toe. Gravity being the witch that it is, the wire bail loop flipped outward, and proceeded to mould itself into the shape of my soon-to-be broken, and less-fer-skin toe. To alleviate this from happening again, I have since stored my cans on heavy shelving, and when moving them, wear leather shoes. :crutch:

I know a guy that dropped a Big Dawg large tumbler drum filled with 25# of pins, 800 pieces of 308 brass and 2.25 gallons of water on his gout ridden big toe. Makes my story about tearing a little toe nail off pale by comparison.

Didn't have to worry about the gout pain! I've been through much pain in my feet, take care of them folk's, you need them feet.

Broke two toes three years ago while on vacation, had to hobble around for 4 days around Myrtle Beach. That sucked! Damn thing is, those toes still give me grief if I look at them wrong!
