Hello all fellow reloading pimps, so I have 2 browning Bar safari rifles. Just wondering what powder should I use. Since this is a gas operation should I treat it like the Remington 742 loads. The one I currently will be loading for is in 30/06. I know or should I say have read browning is a lot stronger than the Remington. I have a lot of imr4350 but I know it builds lot of pressure. If not mistaken it's more on the slow side of the burn rate. If anyone has information on this would love for your advice. Also I have about 500 30/30 round bullets i though about loading and trying at lower velocity. Just a thought!

Well, you certainly shouldn't plan to reload outside of safe limits, and those limits are really imposed by your caliber - in this case, 30-06 - rather than the gun.

IMR 4350 recipes for 30-06 are out there - see https://hodgdonreloading.com/rldc/ - and your bullet weight will determine what your powder load is going to be (and which powders are appropriate) - you just need to make sure that the load doesn't generate over about 59,000 p.s.i. of chamber pressure. Most reloaders who aren't very experienced (and a lot that are) will seek to stay well under that 59,000 psi limit.

Likewise, you can go WELL below the lower limit provided at the link I gave, but at some point you risk having the action of your rifle not cycle or having a bullet stuck in the barrel. As long as you can clear those kinds of failures, you should be OK while you're developing your round. I wouldn't sock away any rounds that you've loaded so light that they don't function correctly though.

If you are worried about pressure from a particular powder, that link above will give you reloading data for other powders with different reloading characteristics for differing bullet weights.
