Well I just finished my first ar build and this issue bothers me...the buffer tube is just barely holding that detent in place...but if I try another turn it hits the detent...is this normal or what? If not how do I fix it? Thanks!

Not very good pictures, sorry.
There should be an indentation in the buffer tube for the pin to sit in(the 2nd pic), I think. I've done 2 ARs, and both of mine did.

Maybe back the tube back out, and start it on the threads in a different position, and you'll end up in a better spot.

Yup. Buffer tube should have a small "cut out" for lack of a better term that meets up to the pin.
